Hey Love… Collective featuring YunieMo & DJOOOChild
Hey Love… Collective is a collaboration between DJ/Producer DJOOOChild and saxophonist/vocalist YunieMo, joined by an evolving circle of musicians, DJs, producers and creators. Rooted in hip-hop, jazz, and R&B, the collective is a space where collaboration, improvisation, and community shape every project.
The collective’s debut, Hey Love… Presents: Volume 1, brings together artists including Melanie Charles, Smoke DZA, Shenel Johns, Nikara Warren, Steph Clement, Jerome Jennings, Zacchae’us Paul, and DJ RellyRell. At its core, Hey Love… Collective is about making music that brings people together, balancing joy, struggle, honoring the past, while evolving in the present.
Beyond recording, Hey Love… Collective curates live performances, listening experiences, and gatherings that break down boundaries between genres and audiences. The collective also collaborates with Preshift!, a wine and culture social club, to create experiences that pair music with community, deepening connections through creativity, conversation, and shared celebration.
YunieMojica, artistically known as YunieMo, is a Brooklyn-based musician, saxophonist, producer, Grammy-nominated composer, and event programmer originally from Hartford, CT. Blending jazz, hip-hop, R&B, and electronic music, YunieMo’s sound reflects her vibrant Afro-Dominican and Puerto Rican heritage and her deep connection to the African Diaspora.
As a performer, YunieMo has graced stages across the country, including the Newport Jazz Festival, Tri-C Jazz Fest, Hartford Monday Night Jazz, Dizzy’s Club, Brooklyn venues such as Public Records and Xanadu. She has collaborated with celebrated artists such as Melanie Charles, Jazzmeia Horn, Shenel Johns, DJ OOOChild, AceMo, DJ RELLYRELL, and Smoke DZA, among others.
YunieMo is also a member of Sonic Messengers, a collective founded by her brother, AceMo, blending jazz, R&B, house, techno, and live improvisation. Featuring AceMo, GBD, and Shenel Johns, the group, born out of AceMo’s vision, held a three-year residency at Public Records and continues to deliver electrifying performances.
YunieMo collaborates closely with Melanie Charles on her initiative Make Jazz Trill Again, uplifting her mission to make jazz inclusive, accessible, and relevant. Under this umbrella, YunieMo co-hosts the Make Jazz Trill Again Podcast and helps produce Trill Mega Jams, a dynamic Jam session series that fosters freedom, expression, and collaboration. These sessions encourage musicians from all backgrounds to participate in a welcoming environment rooted in the foundation of jazz.
Inspired by legends such as Jackie McLean, Charlie Parker, and John Coltrane, YunieMo’s personal sound fuses, jazz, bebop, hard bop, electronic music, Hip-Hop, R&B, and soulful improvisation. Her artistic mission is to create music that inspires reflection and joy, guided by her philosophy: “If I want to be evolutionary and revolutionary, I need to have a spirit of collaboration.”
A graduate of the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz at the University of Hartford, YunieMo earned a B.A. in Music Management and Jazz Studies. She studied under revered mentors such as Rene McLean, Abraham Burton, Jimmy Greene, Nat Reeves, Kris Allen and Steve Davis, continuing the legacy of the Hartford Sound.
YunieMo’s album with DJ OOOChild, Hey Love… Presents: Volume 1, released in March 2025 under the Sonic Messengers label features collaborations with Shenel Johns, Melanie Charles, Nikara Warren, Smoke DZA, Steph Clement, Jerome Jennings, and Zacchae’us Paul, offering a genre-blending celebration of innovation and community.
